AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN
The next day Astrid corners Hiccup at his locker and asks if he got his portion of the project done yet and he looks a little sleepy and says “nearly” and it’s apparent he was up most of the night doing something (though she knows better than to assume it was a school project).
She holds up her phone to his FB page, which show a few tagged pictures of him in skydiving gear with his tandem partner and some of him free-falling
But before he can ask something like ‘why am I on your feed?’ she starts in on him over how “this doesn’t look sick to me” and how “we only have two more day until its due” and that they “still have to meet up again…compile everything…” that she outta tell the professor how to divide the grade given all the work he skipped out on, even if it was just one day, it was a day she didn’t have practice…
Hiccup’s following the phone she’s waving around, thinking back on how much fun he had, assuring himself that it was worth pissing off Astrid “pay attention” Hofferson. Then he meets her eye.
“It was just something for my birthday.”
And he slams his locker shut and walks by her and all of that self-righteous anger sort of fizzles inside her
